Covid Rules on Entering the Netherlands

Read the rules for bringing your pet to the Netherlands. From 17 September 2022, no Covid-19 restrictions or requirements will apply to travellers entering the Netherlands, including those from countries outside the EU/Schengen area. The Dutch authorities lay down the entry conditions and apply them. This page reflects the UK government`s understanding of the rules applicable to people travelling from the UK with a full “British citizen” passport for the most common types of travel. If you continue to test positive, after your stay in the Netherlands, contact the country you are travelling to find out the conditions for entry into that country. The rules for traveling or working in European countries have changed from 1 January 2021: there are restrictions on items allowed as luggage. Additional rules apply to certain goods, such as paints, furniture and animal products. On the customs website you will find an overview of the products for which additional rules apply. You should always wear a negative test result. Travellers from high-risk areas should always be quarantined. These rules also apply to travellers with a vaccination certificate or a recovery certificate. If you are travelling to the Netherlands from another EU country that is considered safe, no travel regulations apply when entering the Netherlands. You are allowed to bring most medicines with you as long as you can prove that they are intended for your own use. Be sure to read the rules and restrictions for taking medication with you. Strong painkillers and sedatives are covered by the Opium Act. You can only take these medicines with you to the Netherlands if you have an official medicine certificate.

You may also need to have this certificate legalized. Check with the local authorities in your country of departure for the rules for taking medication. Although you can do a lot of things in the Netherlands again, COVID-19 has not disappeared, so you will have to follow the following basic rules when staying in the Netherlands: From 22 December 2021, new rules will apply to travellers from outside the EU/Schengen. Full vaccination is one of the categories of exception. You can use your digital or paper proof of vaccination at border control when you arrive in the Netherlands. During your stay in the Netherlands, your proof of digital vaccination is only valid if your country`s Covid digital passport is linked to the EU`s DCC (European Digital Corona Certificate). Please check if your country is linked to the EU-DCC.

If your country is linked to the EU-DCC, your international QR code can be scanned on site. If your country is not linked to the EU-DCC, your international QR code cannot be scanned on site. You must take a free rapid test (antigen) in the Netherlands. You can book a free trial date online. The negative test result is only valid for 24 hours, so you may need to test several times during your stay. Holidays in the Netherlands are possible in most cases. There are temporarily stricter rules and recommendations related to COVID-19 that you will need to follow during your stay due to the lockdown, which will last until January 14. The lockdown is designed to slow the spread of the omicron variant to ensure that health services remain available to all. You can book your stay in all accommodations available for your stay, such as hotels, bed and breakfasts and holiday parks.

Before you go to your booked accommodation, don`t forget to check with the owner about the applicable rules. During the lockdown, only important stores are open. All non-essential stores are closed, with the exception of Click and Collect. UK truck drivers entering the Netherlands are not required to present a negative COVID-19 test, proof of vaccination or recovery and are not required to quarantine. If you are travelling with a child under the age of 18, you must be able to prove that the child`s parents have given you permission to do so. The quarantine period can be shortened by getting tested on day 5. These rules also apply to travellers with a vaccination certificate or a recovery certificate. Self-quarantine is mandatory if you are travelling to the Netherlands after a stay in countries or regions that are considered very risky. This requirement applies even if you have been vaccinated. You must be able to submit a completed, printed and signed quarantine declaration. Your final dose of the vaccine must have been given at least 14 days before travel and 28 days in the case of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. Your nhs Vaccination Center appointment card is not intended to serve as proof of vaccination and should not be used to prove your vaccination status.
