The philosopher Immanuel Kant formally described the principle of universal validity in his categorical imperative. Still, the company believes its attention to ethics has paid off. The ethics program has led to better relationships with government and new business opportunities. In addition to price and technology, the integrity, quality and reliability of Martin Marietta`s estimates play a role in awarding defense contracts, which account for about 75% of the company`s revenue. Executives feel that the reputation they have earned through their ethics program has also helped them build trust with government auditors. By opening up communication, the company has reduced the time required for redundant audits.

Factors such as management personality, company history, culture, business areas, and industry regulations should be considered when designing an appropriate set of values and designing an implementation program. Nevertheless, several features of the efforts are common and have had some success: An integrity-based approach to ethics management combines concern for the law with a focus on management`s responsibility for ethical behaviour. While integrity strategies may vary in design and scope, they all strive to define the guiding values, aspirations, and patterns of thinking and behavior of companies. When integrated into an organization`s day-to-day operations, such strategies can help prevent harmful ethical errors while harnessing powerful human impulses for moral thought and action. An ethical framework will then no longer become a binding constraint in which companies must operate, but the determining ethics of an organization. Success in creating a climate of responsible and ethical behavior requires continuous effort and a significant investment of time and resources. A glossy code of conduct, a high-level ethics officer, a training program, an annual ethics audit – these badges of an ethics program are not necessarily in addition to a responsible, law-abiding organization whose values align with its actions. A formal ethics program can serve as a catalyst and support system, but organizational integrity depends on integrating company values into its training systems. This brand integrity includes consistent messaging and often involves the use of a set of graphic standards to maintain visual integrity in marketing communications. Kaptein and Wempe developed a theory of corporate integrity that includes criteria for companies facing moral dilemmas. [16] Martin Marietta, NovaCare and Wetherill Associates have implemented and experienced very different integrity strategies.

Regardless, management found that the initiative made significant and often unexpected contributions to the competitiveness, work environment and important relationships on which the company depends. Electronic signals are called integrity when there is no corruption of information between one domain and another, for example from a hard drive to a computer screen.
