As Senior Counsel at West Virginia University, Harry P. Montoro focuses primarily on responding to or providing legal advice related to requests for documents, including subpoenas, Freedom of Information Act requests, and requests for student and staff records. It also provides legal services in sports contracts, children`s activities on campus (such as 4-H and the Boy Scouts of America), WVU Extension and Global Affairs. Carol Ann Marunich is an associate general counsel at West Virginia University. As Assistant General Counsel, Carol works closely with the University`s senior management by providing legal services in a variety of practice areas including: medical malpractice, health issues, employment law, employee relations, litigation, ADA issues with employees, and Title IX compliance. SLS is committed to protecting the legal rights and interests of the student body. The Land Use and Sustainable Development Legal Clinic provides legal services to local governments, landowners and non-profit organizations to develop strategies and practices to conserve land. This clinic offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in land use law and land use policy. In this transactional and policy-oriented clinic, students develop skills in research, design, negotiation, and client consulting. Under the guidance of experienced lawyers and professionals, students contribute to land and water conservation efforts. Students who are currently enrolled in WVU and have paid their tuition fees are eligible to use WVU Student Legal Services (SLS). No additional fees are charged for the legal services provided. However, students are responsible for paying court fees and court fees if their case is pursued in court.

LITC provides free legal representation in federal tax matters to resolve a tax dispute with the Internal Revenue Service. Cathy Sellaro is a paralegal for the General Counsel`s Office at West Virginia University. As the sole paralegal, Cathy advises in a variety of areas, including transaction, real estate and contract management, litigation, policy development, subpoenas and responses to the Access to Information Act. This general forensic clinic focuses on legal services in family law (including protection from violence, custody, alimony, divorce, and adoption), social security and other public benefits, property issues, consumer debt relief, bankruptcy, and cases covered by the court hearing. Students often appear in state and federal courts in West Virginia. The West Virginia Law Institute was founded in 1988 and has strived to fulfill its legal mandate to promote and promote the clarification and simplification of West Virginia law. As a government organization whose members are leading lawyers, judges and jurists, the Institute`s work has outlined initiatives to reform important laws such as the Intestate Succession Project, the Tax Offenders` Property Project, the Uniform Adoption Act, the Business Corporations Act and the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act. The mission of West Virginia University`s Student Legal Services is to provide advice, guidance, education, and advocacy to students to help them solve legal problems and to encourage and support student learning development. SLS is committed to protecting the legal rights and interests of the student body by providing free high-quality legal and mediation services to undergraduate and graduate students, individually and collectively, as well as student governments and student organizations. SLS may provide limited services in certain areas.

These include, but are not limited to, restricting services to references in areas that may excessively monopolize program resources to the detriment of other eligible students, and restricting services to student organizations to educational presentations. SLS cannot represent a student in matters concerning other students or the University. These cases can be submitted to mediation through our law firm. The Veterans Advocacy Legal Clinic provides qualified veterans with legal services in the areas of family law (including protection from violence, custody, support, divorce and adoption), estate planning, property issues and consumer debt relief. This is the first initiative of its kind in the country between a law school and a VA hospital. Our award-winning clinical law program develops actionable skills while providing vital legal assistance to those in need. Barnhart is Associate General Counsel at West Virginia University. As Assistant General Counsel, Kylie assists with a variety of legal matters, including litigation, trademark and copyright law, Freedom of Information Act requests, and contracts. As Vice-President and General Counsel, Stephanie is part of the University`s leadership team, advising the President, administrators, faculty and staff of the University, as well as the University`s Board of Governors. He also manages the legal services of the University`s lawyers and oversees the work of law firms on behalf of the University.

James P. Rektor is associate general counsel at West Virginia University. As Deputy General Counsel, James provides legal services in a variety of areas, including constitutional law, contracts, litigation, real estate, construction, student conduct, and Freedom of Information Act applications.
