Ms. Cox has 39 years of nursing experience. She received her BSN and MSN from East Carolina University. She has worked in the intensive care unit/CCU, Med Surg, OB-GYN as well as in labor and delivery. She also has intermediate management experience and 19 years of experience as an obstetrician. For the past 17 years, she has worked as a Certified Nurse Midwife and currently does so at the Crist Clinic for Women in Jacksonville, North Carolina. In addition, Dr. Cox is a clinical faculty member at the UNCW School of Nursing. This course is the foundational course for the Legal Nurse Consultation Program and provides a comprehensive learning program on the current principles and practices of today`s legal nurse consultation. This course covers health and nursing law issues and the justice system.

This course uses the most up-to-date and authoritative manual in the specialty of legal nursing counselling and introduces all facets of practice. You will receive comprehensive training in the professional practice of counselling, as well as in appropriate health and nursing law. The continuation of Legal Nurse Consulting`s study continues in the other three track courses for this area. The prerequisite for this course is the current state license/registration as a nurse. Ms. Brock`s independent CNL activities provide services to claimants and defence counsel, including, but not limited to, case review and selection, timelines, case reports, expert identification and file organization. Her areas of practice include medical malpractice, nursing home litigation, life care planning, workers` compensation and personal injury. This graduation course is crucial in bringing all this together in order to gain a solid foundation of knowledge and theory in the practice of advice on the administration of justice. Students study real-life cases and legal nursing advisory reports and gain additional work product-related skills for lawyer clients. Effective methods for writing reports are explored. This course results in the comprehensive analysis of cases from the perspective of statutory nursing advice and work outcomes. Students conduct a real-life case analysis with full applicability of the material learned from the entire continuing education program.

This course also provides the knowledge to complete another additional and “optional” continuing education course for those seeking continuing education activity in a preceptory with a practicing lawyer, law firm or nursing consultant. More information can be obtained from students enrolled in this option. [This section addresses OAC Document 4723-4-08, Standards for the Application of the Nursing Process as a Registered Nurse Practitioner.] Licensed practical nurses implement the care plan accurately and in a timely manner as follows: Course Description: This course examines the standard of care and the legal aspects of care. Upon successful completion of this course, nurses will be able to describe state laws and the level of protection of the statutes. This program is coordinated by our educational partner, CLS by BARBRI, one of America`s most respected legal education centers. They have been offering legal programs nationally since 1980. These courses are taught by experienced legal and education professionals selected by CLS. This course is the second core course for the Legal Nurse Consulting continuing education program and provides comprehensive learning of the current principles, practices and theories of Legal Nurse Consulting today. Students delve deeper into the role, responsibilities and practice opportunities of a professional nurse practicing legal nursing advice. The solid foundations of nursing law are examined as well as a model of research and practice for the forensic nurse.

This course focuses on different types of cases where nurses advise, including theory, practice, and application for counselling. Since nursing is a dynamic practice, questions may arise as to whether certain functions fall within the nurse`s jurisdiction. All care must be consistent with the nurse`s preparation, training, experience, knowledge and proven skills. In an accurate and timely manner, RNs develop, create, maintain or modify the care plan based on current nursing science, including nursing diagnosis, desired patient outcomes or goals, and care interventions. They communicate the care plan and any changes to members of the health care team. An RPN(I) does not disclose identifying information about a patient`s health unless the patient gives written consent through a duly executed disclosure of information. Only in certain circumstances will an RPN disclose individually identifiable patient health information in accordance with authorized legal authority without the patient`s written consent. The duties assigned to RPNs must also be part of the registered nurse`s legal activity. Certification differs significantly from “licensing”. The license is granted/granted by the government.

In most cases, approval is the responsibility of the state government. Each state has its own government agencies that supervise and license professionals.
