Legal Diploma Scotland

Legal Diploma Scotland

As a practical and career-oriented programme, the degree meets the requirements of Stage 1 of Professional Education and Training (PEAT 1) required by the Law Society of Scotland. Our degree is much more than a qualification – it represents the beginning of your continuing professional development as a lawyer and serves as a bridge between your legal studies and practice, providing a solid foundation for all the key qualifications you need to enter the legal profession. You have access to a variety of electronic information sources that you can access from home, including all major legal databases. You will take five core courses and three electives. Core courses are required by the Law Society of Scotland, which regulates the legal profession in Scotland. Electives allow you to choose additional fields of study that match your areas of interest or the requirements of your future employers in the legal profession. Courses are offered through a combination of online resources, electronic modules, lectures and small group tutorials. As our program aims to equip you with the skills and characteristics of a Day One-ready intern, each course allows you to develop not only your written communication skills, but also your verbal communication skills. Tutors expect you to come to each class to contribute. The DPLP is a transaction-based hands-on learning programme that aims to prepare qualified graduates for legal practice in Scotland. Building on our strong association with the legal profession, we see the degree as the crucial bridge between your law studies and the world of practice. Look forward to working in a close collegial learning environment and developing sustainable professional networks. All our teaching is based on achieving the results set by the Law Society of Scotland.

These results emphasize the development of practical legal skills in the context of ethical and professional behaviour. Much of our practical work is set against the backdrop of the “virtual” community of Ardcalloch – a city we created. A variety of events take place in the city, which raise a variety of legal issues for citizens. Throughout the course, you will be involved in the execution of a series of simulated legal transactions. You`ll study in the heart of Scotland`s capital and financial and legal centre, just minutes from the Sheriff`s Court, Court of Session and High Court of Justice, as well as the Scottish Parliament. As a graduate student, you will have your own common room, the “Fountain Meadow,” and you will naturally begin to make connections and friendships that will provide you with an invaluable network when you enter the profession. As well as learning legal topics, you`ll also develop the soft skills you need for your professional life, including: The Aberdeen DPLP prepared me for legal practice by keeping the schedule reflected normal office hours, giving us tight deadlines and encouraging us to work in groups. The DPLP meets the requirements of Stage 1 of Professional Education and Training (PEAT 1) of the Professional Education Programme for Lawyers in Scotland. Completion of PEAT 1 is required to enter the legal profession in Scotland.
