Flex Legal regularly responds to the urgent requirements of procedural and commercial law, where the tasks of disclosure and review of documents regularly fall on legal teams. We also support you with a wide range of legal tasks such as judicial support, subject access requests, contract review, legal translations and much more! Luana also pointed out that the SQE “will help the community, as many people who choose to follow the EQS path are likely to volunteer with charities to get legal support to complement their experience.” Under the EECQ, applicants must complete two years of full-time QWE (or equivalent). This can be done in up to four organizations and can include paid or volunteer work. This flexibility is fantastic because it means SQE applicants have the opportunity to get involved in volunteer work, an area that desperately needs extra support. SQE2 can only be tried if you have passed SQE1. The SQE2 is designed to assess your skills in six key areas: client interviewing and legal analysis, advocacy, case and fact analysis, legal research, legal writing, and legal writing. These are assessed through a mix of written exams and oral role-playing and are usually a bit more complicated than SQE1 exams. Again, you can find a more detailed breakdown on the SQE2 Assessment Specification page on the SRA website. Afroditi is currently seconded to Fifteen Communications Group as part of her experience as a Flex intern. She holds a law degree from Newcastle University, has passed the LPC and has extensive legal experience.

Law graduates are invited to apply to become a paralegal through Flex Legal. We require a minimum of 2:1 and previous legal work experience (volunteering is perfectly acceptable). Since the advent of Covid last year, we have seen a huge increase in the number of applications we receive, which unfortunately means that we reject many applicants. We don`t like to disappoint anyone, so we always try to give constructive advice and feedback, even if we reject someone. We want this new service to make SQE even more accessible to paralegals on our platform, as well as aspiring lawyers in the broader legal community. So start recording your EQS eligible work experience now and let us know what you think! Sam Gunn: Legal teams using Flex are able to scale their operations quickly and improve their ability to respond to fluctuating workloads, while keeping costs manageable by saving on the need for more permanent employees on board. Whether it`s an urgent request from 30 paralegals starting Monday for a disclosure exercise or a longer-term placement for a specialist lawyer with deep niche knowledge, we already have exactly the resources legal teams need. Law firms that work with Flex can speed up their projects, reduce team stress and reduce costs.

Advice, data, analysis and insights from the top of the legal profession. Sam Gunn: Flex Legal is an interim legal work service founded in 2016 by Mary Bonsor, a real estate lawyer, and James Moore, a software engineer. Our online platform creates win-win relationships by flexibly connecting law firms and in-house legal teams with interim lawyers and paralegals. Our clients receive additional interim support as their legal work increases, and our paralegals and lawyers receive interim internships that bypass their other obligations. It`s a win-win situation! We`ve seen rapid growth and a huge increase in demand since our launch four years ago as more teams become aware of the benefits of flexible legal resources. Despite the challenges that Covid brought last year, we have significantly expanded our service. Many new clients have contacted us to navigate the treacherous waters of economic uncertainty, remote work, and general disruption to legal work. At what stage of their legal careers should candidates consider using Flex? As part of Flex Trainee, we have partnered with social mobility charity, STRIVE, to identify aspiring lawyers from diverse backgrounds who deserve the chance to pursue a legal career. Flex Legal tries to solve these problems with a fast and flexible service. All paralegals and lawyers on our platform were interviewed in advance, prepared and ready to go. They are immediately available and can flexibly strengthen the ranks of any legal team that needs additional support.

When the work is done, they move on to another project that needs it. Think of Flex as an emergency parachute for your legal team that can be deployed when they need help the most. “As anyone who has ever worked in law can tell you, the legal work is not consistent. It is possible and it still is. When this happens, paralegals and lawyers are expected to do the extra work. Stephanie is currently seconded to ASOS.com as her first flexible internship. She has gained outstanding legal experience working with London law firms and several leading retail organizations.
