Aba Legal Scholarship

The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship provides $15,000 in funding to 20 different law students during their three years at law school. During his tenure as president of the ABA, William G. Paul launched the scholarship to encourage students of diverse races and ethnicities to apply for and attend law school. Since its inception, 200 students from across the country have received the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship. These extraordinary recipients have overcome adversity, proven themselves through academic success and public service, and demonstrated the tenacity to excel in this profession. A scholarship awarded to a participating student in the first year can be renewed for an additional two years, resulting in a total financial support of $15,000 during their stay at the Law School. While each recipient must reapply for a scholarship in their second and third years, the scholarship should be renewed annually if satisfactory results have been achieved at the law school, if the student is otherwise eligible, and if funds are available.
